I had always wanted to capture an image of this ancient extinct volcanic which uniquely sits in the middle of a city. The opportunity came on a very fine Spring day. I was excited by the light effervescing from the rocks tin the foreground as though they were lit from underneath. Intuition comes into play or is it expedience… the composition made itself. I love the clarity, the dynamic, the tonality and composition of this image making one of my all time favourite images. Captured on a 10”x8” view camera.
